For those who are unfamiliar, the Nokia N9 was the first and last Nokia device to run on the MeeGo operating system. The phone, despite it being one of a kind, was well-received by those who have tried it, so safe to say if the reports are true, we are excited to see what the Nokia N9 team could be up to.
Of course what makes this rumor interesting is what will Nokia be calling their phone? After all the agreement with Microsoft was that the latter had the rights to use the Nokia brand on smartphones for the next 10 years, which means that Nokia Finland will need to either need to launch a new brand specifically for smartphones, or wait 10 years until the rights expire.
That being said, Nokia’s toying with Android is nothing new. While the Nokia X might not necessarily be the most powerful Android phone in the market, it was still an effort on Nokia’s part. That and the Nokia Z Launcher which seemed like Nokia’s way of easing themselves into the Android picture, but until we hear from Nokia themselves, do take it with a grain of salt for now.
