Nokia today announced the release of Nokia Refocus, an imaging application made for PureView-branded Lumia Windows Phone handsets.
The app allows users to shoot photos first and focus or refocus later. This is possible because 2 to 8 images are created, “depending on what’s in view, each at five megapixels at a different focus that’ll be aligned and forged together to make one image.” After you snap the shot, the focus can be shifted by tapping on the final image. There’s also the option to keep everything in focus. Nokia’s Refocus webpage exemplifies how it all works.
Nokia Refocus can be downloaded here. It is compatible with the following smartphones: Lumia 920, Lumia 925, Lumia 928 and Lumia 1020. Keep in mind that the app requires the latest Amber software update.
The new Nokia Refocus app will be pre-installed on the Lumia 1520, which is going to be launched later this month around the world – including in the US.
