Appeared in leaked photos a few times until now, Nokia’s Asha 311, Asha 305, and Asha 306 have been officially announced by the Finnish company today. They’re all part of the brand new Asha Touch family of devices, coming with a full-touch interface that evolved from S40, being called exactly “Asha Touch.”
According to Nokia, the 311, 305 and 306 “have been designed to provide an incredibly rich, smartphone-like experience to consumers who want to be set free from excessive data consumption costs and short battery life.” All three devices have Nokia Browser 2.0 pre-installed (this can reduce data consumption by up to 90%), and are offered with 40 free games from Electronic Art (including Bejeweled, Tetris, FIFA 12, and Need for Speed The Run).
The flagship Asha Touch handset is the Asha 311 (pictured above). Here’s what it features:
Nokia Life (available only in India, China, Indonesia, and Nigeria)
Angry Birds (15 levels)
3.5mm headset jack
3.2MP rear camera
256MB of internal memory
2GB MicroSD card in the box
The Nokia Asha 311 weighs 95 grams, measures 106 x 52 x 12.9, and will be available starting the third quarter of the year, in five color versions (Dark Grey, Blue, Rose Red, Sand White, and Brown). The handset’s estimated retail price is €92 (about $115). At this price, the 311 is no doubt a worthy alternative to all the cheap Androids out there.
Next we have the Nokia Asha 306. It offers a 3.0 inch WQVGA resistive touchscreen display, Wi-Fi, Nokia Life, GPRS / EDGE connectivity, 3.5mm headset jack, 2MP rear camera, and a 2GB memory card in the box. Like the 311, the 306 will debut starting the third quarter. It will cost €68 ($85) before taxes and subsidies, becoming “Nokia’s most affordable Wi-Fi handset to date.”
Finally, the Nokia Asha 305 is pretty much similar to the 306, but it doesn’t have Wi-Fi. What it does have is dual-SIM capabilities (with Nokia’s Easy Swap technology). The Asha 305 should become available before the end of this quarter (Q2), costing €63 (about $78).
