Last night, Apple has finally announced the cheap iPhone 5C, alongside the iPhone 5S (which is obviously its new high-end handset).
Unusually for an iPhone, the 5C comes in blue, green, yellow, pink and white – that’s a total of five distinct color versions. If this new approach looks familiar, it’s because Nokia has been releasing Lumia Windows Phone devices in relatively similar colors for a few years now.
Nokia itself noticed the resemblance, and tweeted a photo of its Lumias next to a “Thanks, Apple” and an “Imitation is the best form of flattery.”
No, Nokia did not invent any color, but it did apply some of them on smartphones in a way that no one had done before. So its tweet is somehow justified.
In the US, the new iPhone 5C will have prices starting at $99.99 on contract (16GB version). It will be available on September 20. Specs-wise, the iPhone 5C is nearly identical to the iPhone 5 from last year.
