Publishers of Gothic and Spellforce saved from insolvency; subsidiary company that publishes adventure game also in the mix.
Earlier this year, developers JoWood Entertainment declared insolvency after being unable to acquire funding to stay functional. Nordic Games Publishing recently announced on
their site that they have acquired both JoWood together with its subsidiary company The Adventure Company, thus saving the parent compay from going under.
Nordic Games now has the publisher's brands and back catalog under its control. The publisher's future plans are to re-launch JoWood's back catalog and create new IPs in the process. The company mentioned that key focus brands include Spellforce, Painkiller, Arcania, The Guild, Panzer Elite, Legend of Kay, The Nations, Safecracker and Neighbors From Hell "amongst others."
Nordic Games was established in 2008, with its headquarters located in Karlstad, Sweden. The company recently opened a new office in Vienna, Austria.
