Back to school season is here for some, and quickly approaching for others, and more and more kids are using iOS devices at school. Two extremely valuable productivity apps for school are Notability and Finish., and both just have happened to be updated on the same day. Notability is a deluxe iPad note taking app that offers support for typing, handwriting, audio, sketching, annotating, and more all combined within one note. You can create extremely valuable notebooks with Notability, and it makes the iPad a great tool to jot down any kind of notes you can think of whether it’s in school, or practically any situation.
Up until this point, Notability has been iPad only, but with the brand new 5.0 update, the app is now universal for iPhone and iPod touch owners to get in on the action. The update also includes iCloud support for notebooks to be synced, and there’s also a new handwriting tool allowing you to scale and rotate notes. Finish. is another school based productivity app, but rather than note taking, it focuses on task management. The main design revolves around getting you to complete important tasks, and overcome procrastination, especially in a school setting, or when deadlines are involved. The new 2.0 update is jam packed with new features while implementing a major visual and interactive overhaul. Finish. now includes the ability to set times for tasks, a “bother me” reminder option, and note taking capabilities for individual tasks. In addition, there’s a new quick add function with one tap to start, and then entry of just title and date. There’s also a new rewards system that provides real-life rewards based on the tasks that you complete.
Notability ($2.99, Universal) is the only note taking app you need, and has been one of the top 25 most downloaded iPad apps of all time. Finish. ($0.99, iPhone) is a highly functional task management app that now offers most features you can think of, and won an Apple Design Award this year from a development team comprised of a pair of 16 year olds.
