Sony is making waves in the smartphones world with the launch of its three new phones, Z5 compact, xperia Z5 and the Z5 premium. But the only phone that is the centre of attraction is the Z5 premium which has the world’s first 4k display on a mobile. The comparison between the note 5 and Z5 premium is inevitable as both the phones house displays that set the standard for other phones to follow.
The note 5 has a gorgeous display that has been proclaimed as the king of the display with the retina screen of iPhone 6 and LG G4 2k display falling next in the line. But the Z5 premium is the new entrant in the market and rigorous testing is still pending to find out the information about its picture quality and colour reproduction. The note 5 has a 2k, 5.7inch display with a resolution of 2560×1440 with a dpi of 515. The problem is that with so many pixels crammed together, the naked eye cannot differentiate the individual pixels. The Z5 premium has a 4k,5.5 inch display with a resolution of 2160×3840 with a whopping dpi of 806.
Most users won’t believe that a pixel density of more than 300 is useless as the naked eye cannot differentiate individual pixel of more than 300 dpi if kept at a distant of 18 inches from the eye. But that is the hard truth about mobile displays. the dpi advertised but the tech company is a gimmick to trick the user into buying its phones. The differentiating factors between a good display and the great display are the colour temperature, picture reproduction, display effect, direct sunlight performance, text readability, graphic performance etc. the displays of note 5 and Z5 premium are one among the best for their picture quality and colour reproduction and not for their resolutions. As a matter of fact, the iPhone 6 has a resolution of 720p with a paltry dpi of 326 but still it stands as a gorgeous display ever put in a smartphone. Hope you stop for a while and think when buying a phone with the highest resolution the next time.
