Microsoft took a big gamble with its massive Xbox One price drop in November, but it looks to have paid dividends. The next-gen Microsoft machine has finally overtaken the PlayStation 4 and stands at the top of the console mountain, with Microsoft reps stating that November set a new sales record for Xbox One. Overall retail sales for hardware, software, and accessories declined 11 percent overall compared to last November, according to the NPD Group, showing that there's nothing quite like that initial next-gen rush.
As for software, Call of Duty has taken its crown once again, just as it has in several Novembers past. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare stands at the top of sales charts, though it should be noted that the Xbox 360 SKU stands above all other versions, showing there's still a significant current-gen install base. Meanwhile, Grand Theft Auto V's jump to next-gen was enough to give it the #2 spot, while Super Smash Bros. rounds out the top 3. Pokemon takes up two spots with Alpha Sapphire at 5 and Omega Ruby at 7, while Master Chief takes up the back of the pack with Halo: The Master Chief Collection at #10.
