With thousands upon thousands of apps to choose from, why would you want to write your own?
That’s a bit like asking why you’d want to try every kind of pizza in your favourite pizza restaurant, we suppose.
In that case the answer would be because you like pizza and because you can. In the case of apps the answer would be because no app quite meets your needs, or maybe because you have a stunning idea for an app that will make your fortune.
What you need is a tool to develop your wonder-app. What you need is App Inventor.
App Inventor has quite a history. Once a Google project, we revealed last August that it had been dropped by Google and adopted almost immediately by MIT.
Since then MIT has taken App Inventor through testing with as many as 5,000 people. And now anyone with a Google ID (such as a gmail account), can get their paws on it.
No, you don’t need any great developer skills to use App Inventor. Just some ideas and the time to work through them.
We aren’t going to wibble on any more about App Inventor. We’re off to start inventing some apps.

Why not tell us what kind of app you would like to invent, and then skoot over here and make a start.
