An essential app for those ‘fanatical about film’, it would have been oh so easy for those at the Odeon Googaplex to have simply pumped out an app extension of their hard-off-hearing automated booking phone service, but we’re pleased to report that the movie palace moguls have gone the extra mile with this little beauty.
In a disturbing time when Claudia Winkelman is deemed the best, most intelligent source of movie information we deserve in this country, the Odeon’s new app is a particularly welcome arrival for film fans who like to know more than whether the latest slice of the silverscreen made Winkers cry or not. Designed in keeping with the website and, therefore, precise and very easy to navigate, here you can find out what’s on and what’s coming with info for both, watch trailers, find your nearest cinema, bring up a map to get there, find times, choose seats, book seats, rate films and even share your favourites with friends.
THE BOTTOM LINE
With an extensive film database to scour (albeit majority mainstream material) this pretty much covers all bases then, certainly within the realms of what you could possibly want from a cinema app. The only things it doesn’t let you do is complain about the exorbitant price of popcorn in an online lobby ahead of arrival to save time later ,or put a virtual ticket on your phone so you don’t have to queue. Still, I suppose they’d have difficult tearing your phone when you go in…
