Due to the fact that our gadgets all feature different hardware, sometimes what works on one device might not be supported on another. A good example would be video games, although one of the ways that companies are looking to solve that problem would be through game streaming where a main computer does all the processing, thus allowing the game to be played on any device it can stream on.
For Xbox One gamers looking to bring some Xbox games onto their phones, you’ll be pleased to learn that OneCast now supports iOS. “We are pleased to announce the release of OneCast for iOS, finally bringing Xbox One game streaming to the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Stream your Xbox One games to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and play from anywhere with access to your home network. Never again will your gaming be interrupted when someone else needs to use the TV!”
For those unfamiliar, OneCast is an app for Mac and iOS devices that lets users stream Xbox One games onto their devices. Microsoft already supports Xbox One streaming but that’s only for Windows 10 devices, so what OneCast does is it brings similar functionality onto the Mac. The app is priced at $11.99 and is available via the App Store.
That being said it’s interesting that the app has been allowed onto the App Store. A few months ago Valve attempted something similar with its Steam Link app but were rejected due to apparent guideline violations, despite the fact that both apps seem to pretty much do the same thing.
