The OnePlus 2 packs a 3300mAh battery. That’s a step up from 3100mAh OnePlus One, but a new test from PhoneArena suggests the second-generation smartphone could actually be a step in the wrong direction when it comes to battery life.
The new handset lasted just 6 hours and 38 minutes in PhoneArena’s test. By comparison, the original OnePlus One held on for 8h5m. Other long-lasting phones in the bunch included the DROID Turbo (10h42m), the Galaxy S6 edge Plus (9h23m) and the Nexus 6 (7h53m).
This comes as a surprise. Based on our own experience the OnePlus 2 actually offers pretty great battery life, so we’re a little confused by these results. Then again, the device we reviewed actually performed pretty poorly until we installed an early software update. It’s possible PhoneArena just missed that patch.
Even so, the OnePlus 2 probably won’t last as long as the Galaxy Note 5, the Galaxy S6 edge Plus or the DROID Turbo among others. Still, it should make it through an entire day of regular use without any issue, which is pretty great for a phone that starts at just $329.
