The OnePlus 2 camera has been investigated in smartphone Vlogger Marques Brownlee’s latest video, ahead of its official launch on July 27. How did the new flagship's camera hold up? With specs, photo options and video details revealed for the first time, here's what we know about the OnePlus 2 camera.
Let’s start with the specs. Brownlee tells us the camera comes with a 13 MP sensor and f/2.0 aperture and includes HDR. He also notes that when shooting a video that the focus is particularly strong, suggesting that this could be the result of laser-autofocus (a fact that OnePlus didn't deny when we asked for confirmation). Beyond that, Brownlee indicates that the OnePlus 2 may lack optical image stabilization, but he doesn’t confirm it.
As for its performance, it seems to be capable without reaching the top level of current Android flagships, Brownlee also adds that it’s not the quickest to take pictures. That being said, the HDR mode appears to increase the saturation and overall brightness in a couple of Brownlee's comparison pictures dramatically, while the OnePlus 2’s ‘ClearShot’ setting boosts the sharpness, though it only appears to be noticeable when zoomed in.
As for video recording, the OnePlus 2 shoots in 4k and slo-mo at 720p. Watch Brownlee's YouTube video in full below.
While we’re yet to learn the final OnePlus 2 price, we have a pretty good idea. Based on that information, there’s nothing to suggest that this won’t be the highest performing camera in its price bracket.
