Responding to one question, OnePlus confirmed that the mystery phone is still on the way, though it won’t be called the OnePlus 3 or the OnePlus 2S. That suggests this won’t be a direct successor to the OnePlus 2. However, it’s possible the company could be planning a smaller Mini variant or a super-sized Plus.
In a recent interview, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei described seeing the “amazing” new phone for the first time. “When I saw the prototype for that phone I was like ‘holy s— that’s going to be my daily driver,’” he said. We still don’t have any specific information on the device, though Pei’s quote suggests the company could be putting an emphasis on design.
OnePlus also faced plenty of criticism from fans in its recent Reddit AMA. The company’s frustrating invitation system is still an issue for many, and the decision to leave out popular features like quick charging and NFC has also turned some people off. Hopefully OnePlus can clear all of this up with a third smartphone later this year.
