The Moto X was marketed as a Made in USA handset. However, it seems like this marketing campaign didn’t quite work out for the company as a new report sheds light on the actual sales of the smartphone. This report published by Strategy Analytics claims that the smartphone has only sold over 500,000 units since its launch in August, which is quite disappointing as the smartphone showed promise with its software and hardware features (Moto Maker).
We’re not sure if these figures are accurate though, so take the report with a pinch of salt until we have confirmation from Motorola directly. We think part of the reason for such low sales figures is that the customizable variant of the smartphone has only been available through AT&T, with other carriers getting access to the customization tool only yesterday. The figure however doesn’t surprise us as the smartphone has only been available in the U.S. which isn’t as big a market as China and other Asian markets.
