If you’re an iOS user, more than likely you’ve stuck with the included Safari browser just for ease. There are other choices out there, but most folks just tend to stick with the pre-installed one because it’s right there at their fingertips. But perhaps it’s time you look to something else, and from a name that is fairly well-known.
Opera has a new browser for iOS devices called Opera Coast that offers you a lot of handy features that should make your browsing experience not only a better one, but more secure as well.
The Opera Coast browser features several tricks that make it an enjoyable option on your iOS device. Concerned about privacy? No problem. When you swipe away a tab, it’s gone and so is the history of you having ever been to that site. No need to worry about someone going through your browser history should they get ahold of your iPhone or iPad and seeing what sort of sites you enjoy.
While not everyone is concerned about privacy, most people do care about speed. Opera Coast has that in spades with a gorgeous interface that loads quickly. And while it’s not a huge feature, we do love the fact it shows you a top news story while you’re using the search feature, possibly saving you even more time.
One of the best new features of iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite is the ability to use Handoff to pass information from your mobile to your Mac, and vice-versa. That is present here as well provided you have Bluetooth turned on both devices. And if you’re moving from say your phone to your tablet, you can also keep the browser on both devices in sync via iCloud to make sure you can always just pick up where you left off.
Opera Coast has a lot of nifty tricks up its sleeve, and while there is a bit of a learning curve to become comfortable with it, it is definitely worth the effort. You can download Opera Coast from the App Store for both the iPhone and the iPad. Currently the browser supports iPhones (4 and later), iPads (2 and later), and iPod Touches (5 and later) running iOS 7 or later.
