Tamagotchi released many games back in the ’90s, and one of the most popular was the Tamagotchi Angel series. Well, the Angel series isn’t getting a physical relaunch like the original Tamagotch is, but it is coming back in app form.
The Tamagotchi L.I.F.E. Angel app gives you the same basic Tamagotchi experience, but with a boost. There are more Angel characters, more new environments (including color!), updated meters, and the ability to tap the screen to scare away bats that are haranguing your precious angel. There’s plenty in the way of extras, too – 22 in-app wallpapers, eight wallpapers for use on your phone, an image gallery, and mini-games. And, when it’s time to show off your pride and joy and put all of your baby-picture-posting Facebook friends to shame, you can post pictures of your Angel on your Facebook profile.
During gameplay, you can choose between app mode and toy mode. Toy mode is great if you really want to try to feel like you’re playing on a classic physical Tamagotchi game – you play the game in a little eggshell window on screen. You can choose between 12 different eggshell designs in toy mode, too.
There’s also an interesting musical connection here – Joan Jett’s new song, ‘Any Weather,’ is being featured in instrumental form in the game. I don’t know if there’s some connection there that I don’t know about, but there it is. Enjoy.
The Tamagotchi L.I.F.E. Angel app is available now on iOS and Android for free.
