No matter what kind of news you’re into, chances are that you may retrieve it from more than a few sources. This is where useful apps like RSS readers come in as they can aggregate everything into one place for you so you don’t have to hop around from webpage to webpage. If you’re a current user of Palabre Feedly RSS Reader, a new update is being pushed out to the application today that is worth keeping an eye out for as it’s being bumped up to version 3.0 and it introduces a handful of improvements that should enhance the user experience quite a bit.
The first thing worth noting is the keyword muting and notifications feature. What this does is allow you to essentially block anything from displaying in the feed that contains the keyword you set to be muted. This could come in fairly useful if you want to make sure that you don’t come across certain stuff. Keyword notifications work much in the same way except instead of muting content with the keyword that you’ve labeled, it notifies you when content is available that has the keyword inside so you can be alerted to the moment this particular content surfaces in the feed.
Keyword muting and notifications are joined by other new improvements such as the new custom color options that were added in to personalize the theme of material design to your own tastes. It’s worth mentioning that this is a premium feature so you won’t have it available if you’re only using the free version of the app, but if you are a premium user you’ll be able to switch between white, dark, and black themes and a handful of other color options. There is also the new text to speech functionality which enables content to be read back to you. In the event that you can’t necessarily focus on reading, say when you’re behind the wheel, but you still want to interact with the content, the text to speech option could be of use. There’s also a new history feature to look back at previously read content, and when you read articles in the feed you can set the font option to Roboto. Lastly, Palabre has had some improvements made to the offline mode.
