“We are excited to bring consumers the best indoor cycling workouts at the most convenient locations, anytime they want them,” said cofounder and CEO John Foley in a statement. “Our iPad app offers a new way for consumers to experience our world-class instructors and unparalleled classes prior to buying a Peloton bike, and is an untethered solution for Peloton bike owners seeking on-the-go fitness.”
Prior to the release of the iPad app, the Peloton cycling experience was limited to those who paid for classes at its studio or for those who could afford their bike’s $2,000 price tag. Made by the same man who designed the bikes for SoulCycle, the Peloton bike was created as a way to bring together every aspect of the cycling experience under Peloton’s domain, in order to produce a much more consistent and high-quality at-home indoor cycling experience. With this new iPad app, anyone around the world can get access to Peloton’s classes.
The Peleton app is free to download but does require a monthly subscription fee in order to have unlimited access to its classes. It does, however, come with 20 free live ride credits, on top of four on-demand rides. Using AirPlay, Apple TV users can also stream the classes from their iPad to a bigger screen.
Peloton has done really well in the past two years, having sold more than 2,000 bikes around the world and raised more than $14 million from Tiger Global Management. To learn more about their products or to check out one of their classes, visit their site.
