Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water… Yes, first came the film, introducing audiences worldwide to three dimensional flesh-eating fish and finally answering the question: what would a bikini-clad Kelly Brook look like in 3D? Now comes the game, but in a move as delightful as the aforementioned answer, you play the piranha…
It’s back to school now as you lead your underwater army of carnivorous cod around the waterways of The Big Wet Waterpark, gorging your unstoppable way through a smorgasbord of succulent morsels from small feeder fish to great big strapping humans, dodging the more feisty prey and – not a common feature on nature documentaries – collecting eggs to add even more happy eaters to your savage sub-aqua swarm.
Control comes via tilt or touch, helping the action to flow swimmingly, and with two game modes available, upgrades aplenty to be gobbled up and gorgeously gory graphics, what’s not to recommend?
THE BOTTOM LINE
Guaranteed to make a massive splash in the app charts, Piranha 3DD is good, wholesome gory fish-based fun that puts a novel spin on the standard film-to-app fayre. Well designed and featuring smooth, intuitive tilt, tap and swipe gameplay, quality sound effects and a glorious silly premise, you’ll never have had so much fun being a fish. And, yes, I’m well aware my opening quite was actually the tagline for the film Jaws, but it was all I had…
