Pokémon Snap is coming to the Wii U’s Virtual Console this week when the shop updates on Thursday. This is the Nintendo 64 title that originally put players on rails and tasked them with taking pictures of elusive Pokémon for points. The game is, in a word, glorious.
I’m make a total guess here, but I think Nintendo made the decision to finally bring Pokémon Snap to the Wii U Virtual Console thanks entirely to the recent success of Pokémon GO. Why not make good on all that Pokémon hype, right?
The original announcement comes by way of the Nintendo Europe Twitter account. That means the game has only been confirmed for Europe so far, but Nintendo of America should issue their own announcement shortly.
Nintendo of Europe typically announces these releases before Nintendo of America, likely because of the timezone differences between the offices. If this one is specific to Europe, we’ll clarify this story, but I doubt that’s the case.
So, Pokémon Snap? Will you be getting in on this photo taking puzzle action?
