This is of course great news for owners of Tado, which already has a free, universal iOS app available on the App Store for iOS device owners to download. Though the API will indeed fuel innovation for the smart thermostat further down the line, its the IFTTT channel which users will be able to access in the near future thatwill expand on the functionality of Tado in the most immediate sense.
As a recent press release explains:
tado users will soon be able to connect their tado Smart Thermostat to other appliances via IFTTT. This will enable the use of the tado geolocation feature for purposes other than smart heating or cooling. In the very near future, when a tado user leaves the house, not only will the heating automatically go to savings mode, but simultaneously the lights switch off, the alarm system activates, the garage door locks and landline calls reroute to their mobile.
Its possible for would-be Tado owners to either rent or purchase the product, and prices depend on your countrys online store. The downside for our readers living in the United States, however, is that Tado is currently available in Europe only.
