Pixelmator, a popular and powerful photo editing app, is already available on Mac and iPad. According to a recent announcement on the companys blog, Pixelmator will be arriving on the iPhonesoon.
As a universal app, Pixelmator will have all of the same features and power that iPad users are already used to. On top of those features, though, the photo editing appwill sport new distortion tools, powered by Apples Metal technology. This means youll get incredibly fast image processing, because Metal is typically used for creating graphics-intense games. The video below shows the distortion toolsin action. Pixelmator first arrived on the iPad last October, after being available for quite some time on the Mac. Since its initial release, the developer has been steadily providingbug fixes and new features to the app. Most recently, Pixelmator added new watercolor brushes and an upgraded color picker. On the Mac side of development, Pixelmator recently received support for Apples new Force Touch trackpad found on the latest 13-inch MacBook Pro and the 12-inch MacBook.
Pixelmator has not said when the universal app will be released, but they have put the software on sale for 50 percent off to celebrate the launch. Pixelmator is currently available for $4.99 on the App Store. For your Mac, Pixelmator is available for $29.99 from the Mac App Store. Since Pixelmator will be a universal app, owners of the iPad version will automatically get the software for their iPhones at no additional cost.
