One of the reasons I’m a big fan of mobile and portable computing devices is their parsimonious power consumption. Back when I still used desktop computers, I was always uncomfortable about the
amount of power I figured they were sucking up, especially in that era of the CRT monitor display.
I never did any actual scientific calculations, but it always seemed intuitively reasonable and obvious that a device that can operate for several hours on a relatively small battery, would not eat
much juice when plugged in either.
