Now that Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal have joined the Apple rumor sites in reporting that an iPad "mini" is coming, just about everyone expects it's really going to happen.
However, Marco Arment, Instapaper developer and tech blogger, points out that if an iPad mini was coming this fall, we would have seen some leaks of the hardware.
Apple's supply chain has been pretty leaky. We've already seen alleged hardware for the next iPhone. Previously we saw hardware leak for the new iPad. (Of course, the iPhone parts could be fakes. Supply chain leaks are often bogus.)
Daring Fireball's John Gruber linked to Marco Arment's post about the supply chain and said he's seen one leak about the iPad mini on Zoogue, an obscure site we have never heard of. He added that he didn't know if it was real or not.
Well, his link crashed the site as readers rushed to check out what the iPad mini might look like. We've included the photo from Zoogue, which we grabbed from Google Cache.
Alas, after Gruber posted the link he updated his post to say, "I’m hearing it’s a fake, so take it with at least a few extra grains of salt."
