If you are a music fan then there is a pretty good chance you know of and have heard the song Bohemian Rhapsody. In fact, in many respects Bohemian Rhapsody is more than just a song. It is one which had endured the music industry since its first release in 1975 and is actually one of the only songs to have been number 1 at Christmas in the UK charts on two different occasions (as an unchanged song). Not to mention, that when it was released, Bohemian Rhapsody was one of those songs which pioneered the use of a video as a means to promote a song.
So it is a song of many ‘firsts’, which means it is also an ideal candidate to be one the of the songs that is being used as a means to promote virtual reality. Which is exactly what is now happening. Google Play in collaboration with Queen have now released what they call the ‘Bohemian Rhapsody Experience’. This new experience comes in an Android app form and is now available to download through the Google Play Store for free.
According to the details, the Bohemian Rhapsody Experience is a “journey through frontman Freddie Mercury’s subconscious mind” and looks to make use of video and audio elements that increase the overall experience. For instance, the experience is accompanied by a ‘remixed 3D spatialized version’ of the song that is able to respond to the movements of the listener, sonically. As such, you will need a virtual reality headset of some sort (be it Cardboard or otherwise) if you really want to embrace the full experience. Although, it has also been announced that a 360-degree video version is also available for those who do not have a VR headset. Those interested in downloading the app can do so by heading through the link below and both versions (VR and 360-degree video) are accessible from within the app. Those interested in finding out more background on this new revamping of Bohemian Rhapsody, can do so by checking out a behind the scenes video that has also been made available today.
