The phrase ‘your balls are radioactive’ is not usually the way we like to start a review, but in this case it’s almost unavoidable. Still, Radio Ball 3D puts you in charge of a ball of Uranium, driven by radioactive waste. You need to keep radiation levels up to keep the ball moving and get as far as you can, avoiding myriad obstacles along the way.
Radio Ball 3D is a frenetic 3D tunnel game that sees your radioactive ball hurtling at high speed through a landscape littered with jumps, walls, chaps in NBC suits and cans of radioactive material. Your mission is to keep your ball rolling all the way to the end of the tunnel.
Control is via your phone’s accelerometer, turn your device to the left to make your ball roll to the left and vice versa. While in the tunnel, you can also make your ball roll the entire circumference of the tunnel in order to pick up various power-ups. The more radioactive waste you pick up, the faster your ball goes and the trickier the game becomes, but you need to be extra careful not to tag any obstacles that’ll slow your ball to a crawl and risk it running out of steam.
The free, full version of the game is riddled with ads, but you can get rid of them by amassing credits and buying the ad removal feature from the store. Unfortunately, you have to install various awful games to get your hands on those credits, but with five minutes of hardcore, credit-grabbing you can get it done.
Radio Ball 3D is challenging enough for a quick blast but it’s not likely to still be in your arsenal in three month’s time. That said, if a quick blast is all you’re after, this is as good as anything else.
The Bottom Line
It’s free, but ad-served. Fast-paced and frenetic, but with a limited lifespan. For all that, though, it’s certainly a lot of fun
