Billed as “rugby’s first ever interactive in-game companion app”, this official bedfellow for live broadcast Six Nations rugby matches, augments your Six Nations viewing experience by throwing rugby trivia, interactive kick predictions and social networking into the mix.
This app is designed as a companion to live Six Nations matches, and as such it only fires up 40minutes before a big match begins and winds down at the final whistle.
Pre-match you’re presented with a selection of rugby trivia questions to get you in the mood – make sure that you’ve logged in to Facebook Connect to compare your performance at the end of the match with rugby-minded peers.
Once the match has kicked off, you’ll be able to enter predictions on live events – bet on conversions and penalty kicks and you’ll get awarded with in-game points if you’re correct. This is a neat touch, but we found that it sometimes lagged, meaning that our predictions occurred after the action had taken place, making them somewhat easy.
Once the final whistle has blown you can compare your scores with any participating Facebook mates or app users worldwide and your performances are saved on a leaderboard throughout the entire tournament.
This is a nice enough app – well realised with clean design and functionality, and there’s enough to keep you occupied through a match, but don’t expect much in the way of surprises.
This isn’t the app for you if you want the latest live fixtures and pushed scores (although there is a companion app for that), but as a companion to live matches, it’s a neat idea that will help you engage you with the tournament a little deeper.
The Bottom Line
A neat way to augment your rugby viewing – if you find yourself watching a match without any mates
