Repix has launched an Android version of its photo editing app after the iOS equivalent was downloaded four million times in just five months.
The app – by Finnish developer Sumoing – is not just a quick and simple port, but a brand new version optimised for Android devices with additional support for the Samsung S-Pen stylus.
Repix comes with all the basic editing options you’d expect – including cropping, colour balance, saturation etc – but there’s also the option to ‘remix’ your photos by painting them with a range of different effects. Using a varied suite of brush options users can alter their images to suit their taste, offering a more intuitive after-effects solution than Instagram’s filters.
There are over 30 different brushes available at launch according to the company, including animated, light, grunge, color boosting and artistic styles. Although the app is free to download, further brushes are available as a freemium upgrades for eager photo-remixers.
The challenge for Repix will be keeping those users interested once the buzz of the launch dies down. As TechCrunch points out, the iOS version of the app quickly racked up 1.5 million downloads in its launch week, but of the four million total downloads only 24% are active users.
Whichever category you fall into, we’d love to know what you think. Head over to Google Play now to download the app and be sure to let us know how you get on.
