Android slates and the iPad are predicted to hold a combined market share of over 90 percent even six years from now with only Windows offering a real challenge to their dominance. Microsoft can of course still pack a punch in both the software and content from development arenas in a manner few plucky upstarts are able to.
In-Stat have also foreseen that the overall tablet market will grow from around 17 million shipments in 2010 to a ginormous 250 million total by 2017. There’s no mention of BlackBerry holding a significant tablet sway in the future, RIM’s PlayBook is already struggling to stay afloat in a fiercely competitive battleground.
