Revealed during Gamescom 2013, RiME, a single-player game with adventure and puzzle elements, will be published by Six Foot and Grey Box in 2017.
Developer Tequila Works sought a new publisher after reacquiring the rights to its game from Sony earlier this year. "We've always wanted RiME to captivate players' imaginations, capturing that feeling of being a child and experiencing the wonders of a bedtime story for the first time," said Tequila Works CEO and creative director Raúl Rubio in a press release (via Push Square) explaining the new publishing arrangement. "We're so excited to find in Grey Box and Six Foot partners just as eager as we are to make that vision for such a personal project a reality."
In RiME, players control a young boy who washes up on an island after a storm destroys his ship. The island contains a wide variety of terrain, creatures, and puzzles.
Just because Tequila and Sony ended their first-party relationship does not RiME won't end up exclusive to PS4. It's no longer a sure thing, however. Xbox One and PC owners may get the chance to explore RiME's mysterious island depending on how Tequila, Grey Box, and Six Foot choose to release it.
