If youve been waiting patiently for Activision to bring its guitar-playing fun to the iPhone and iPad, your wait is over. Guitar Hero Live has been released as a free trialon the App Store, letting you play the game on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. Using AirPlay or a Lightning Digital AV connector and HDMI cable, you can even enjoy the game on your television screen.
Play with real band members, crowds, and reactions
Through the game, you have two options for play. In the first mode, Guitar Hero Live puts you on stage with a real band. Its all about the dream of being a rock star, so you get the full experience. The crowd reacts to how well (or how poorly) you play, either loving you or booing you.
Guitar Hero TV brings a playable music video network to you
In Guitar Hero Lives second mode, GHTV, you get to play along with official music videos and even more. There are multiple channels available all day and night, with more than 200 songs already available. You can jam out to the best songs by your favorite artists, in true guitar karaoke style.
On your iOS device, or with a controller
You can play Guitar Hero Live on your iOS device, of course, using your screen as the fret board. Activision has also released a guitar controller, though, that uses Bluetooth to pair with your iOS device and give you the old-school Guitar Hero feel. The six-button controller is available online or from local retailers.
All this fun doesnt come cheap
You can download Guitar Hero Live for free on the App Store, but it is pretty limited. You only get two songs for free, and after that you will need to purchase the full version to enjoy all that the game has to offer. Buying into the full version doesnt come cheap, either. The digital touch version of the game is $49.99, and the bundle including the Bluetooth guitar controller costs $99.99.
Guitar Hero Live requires iOS 8 or later, and is compatible with these newer iOS devices:
