Another day, another rumor about the up and coming HTC One M9 and this one is from prolific leaker @upleaks and concerns the color options for the new, unofficial, unannounced One. Upleaks reports that there are going to be three color combinations at launch. One sees the HTC One M9 in Dark Gunmetal front and rear, the other sees the HTC One finished in Gold front and rear and the third option has a gold front, silver rear. We’ve already seen case manufacturers pre-launch cases for the new, unannounced One M9 in a variety of color combinations.
I am not surprised that HTC are preparing to launch the One M9 in multiple colors, then. I’d go as far to speculate that in the coming months there will be others coming along as well. We saw the One M7 and One M8 models released in a variety of shades, including pinks, reds and blues. Some customers are happy with a ‘phone to be a typical handset color, so usually black or white, but many people would be happy for a splash of color for their device. Some carriers or handset resellers are keen to snap up exclusive deals of a particular color, too. The one color that Upleaks has revealed that may not be as popular with the majority is the gold/silver combination, however we’ll have to wait not so many days until we see the device. Perhaps HTC are using different plastic divider colors as another means of differentiating these three launch color combinations?
As for the device itself, the pre-launch device specifications we saw leaked yesterday have put the new HTC One exactly back where many industry experts have predicted. As a reminder, it looks like the M9 will be based around the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, 3 GB RAM, 5.0-inch 1080p screen, 2,900 mAh battery and a 20MP rear camera. The news here is that HTC are not chasing the screen size and resolution game, but have instead decided to stick with a 5.0-inch display at 1080p resolution. This should be good news for battery life and device performance (of course, a faster, more modern processor and a larger battery compared with the outgoing model will also help here too!). As for how the device will look… We’ve seen numerous renders but these are all speculative until the device is officially released on the 1 March. It’s important to remember that case manufacturers are trying to show off the case rather than the device within and retailers do get device images wrong even several months after the handset has been released. We don’t have long to wait. Are you excited for the new HTC One M9? If so, have you been mentally planning the color that you’re looking for? Let us know in the comments below!
