While most of us are excited over future Samsung devices like the Alpha or the Note 4, today Barnes & Noble and Samsung announced they will host an event on August 20th in New York to launch their first co-branded tablet.
We first learned that Samsung and B&N would be working together in June, with the device expected to launch under the name Galaxy Tab 4 Nook. From what we know, the device will have a 7-inch display and will feature Nook-customized software. It’s less clear if that means we’ll also see TouchWiz elements in the UI, or if the interface will essentially be the same as we’ve seen on other Nook tablets in the past. It’s also unclear if the Tab 4 Nook will have any changes to its hardware when compared to the standard 7-inch Tab 4, or what the pricing will be like.
Barnes & Noble does say they plan to prominently feature the device in its brick-and-mortar stores, as well as on their website. While this is far from the most exciting announcement coming out of Samsung, it could still be great news for Samsung and Nook fans looking for a device that bridges the two worlds.
