Samsung finally announced Galaxy S5 Mini, the smaller variant of its flagship. The hardware is a stripped down version of Galaxy S5 but it carries some of the good features like fingerprint sensor, heart rate sensor, IP67 certified body with a perforated back cover, Ultra Power Saving Mode, Kids Mode and Private Mode.
Galaxy S5 Mini features a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display of 720p (1280×720) resolution, an upgrade both in screen size and resolution over the Galaxy S4 mini.
Other hardware specs include 1.4GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera, 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, USB 2.0, A-GPS + GLONASS, and IR Remote connectivity, and a 2,100 mAh battery. There is no information on the type of processor used but as we mentioned earlier the phone will most likely carry Samsung’s own Exynos 3470 chip. It is also rumored that Galaxy S5 Mini will have the same processor in both LTE and non-LTE variants.
The phone measures 131.1 x 64.8 x 9.1mm and weighs 120g – it’s bigger and heavier than the Galaxy S4 mini. According to reports the Galaxy S5 mini will have a suggested retail price of €479 ($650). This is not the final price any this may change a bit when the phone will actually be available for purchase.
The Galaxy S5 mini will be available in Russia from this month in Charcoal Black, Shimmery White, Electric Blue and Copper Gold and will be released in other market in coming months.
