Samsung is donating 3000 Galaxy S3 Neo smartphones to be used in the UN projects to fight Ebola in the most hit African countries. This is a 1 million worth of donation, which will be used in 60 medical clinics in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.
All the phones will have UN’s Smart Health Pro mobile application, this will help medical personnel to gather and record data. These devices will also help patients to contact their families.
Samsung also said that they are going to destroy these devices when the Ebola outbreak will decrease.
Apart from donating mobile devices, Samsung is also providing financial support for the purchase of hazmat suits in Ghana and distribution of hand Sanitizers in the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as launching an Ebola SMS text service in South Africa.
