We’re only days away from the official beginning of the 2012 International CES consumer technology tradeshow, which means that we should get ready for a bunch of new gadget releases…
One of these gadgets could be the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus, an evolved version of the Galaxy Ace Android-powered smartphone released in 2011 and received with moderate enthusiasm by technology fans in the US.
The Galaxy Ace Plus, or at least something that looks like a Galaxy Ace Plus, has been revealed in a leaked photo received by the guys at Sammyhub.com just a few hours ago. Even though the pic doesn’t show much, it looks legit and, as far as we can tell, the new smartphone should be more stylish and elegant than the original Galaxy Ace.
Both the front and the back of the phone look pretty familiar and the overall design is anything but spectacular or groundbreaking. On the other hand, I myself am a fan of smooth rounded edges and all in all I would definitely not call this device ugly, tacky or unsophisticated.
Unfortunately, there’s nothing we can say about the technical specs of the future Galaxy Ace Plus at the moment, but if its name will stand as it is suspected right now, it’s pretty clear that we’re in for a serious hardware improvement.
For those of you who missed the original Galaxy Ace’s release (can’t blame you if you did…), the smartphone is powered by a pretty modest 800 MHz ARM 11 processor and sports a 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen with 320 x 480 pixels resolution. The Ace runs Android 2.2 Froyo and, while I wouldn’t personally expect its follower to come with Ice Cream Sandwich, it should definitely run at least Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
I know, I know, there are a lot of ‘’woulds’’ and ‘’shoulds’’ in this post, but that’s just how things work with a few days before the world’s largest technology tradeshow to get underway… Hopefully, the guys at Samsung will put us out of our misery come January 10th and will release this smartphone or at least reveal a couple extra details about it…
Update: It seems that we won’t have to wait until CES after all, because just as we were preparing to post this article, Samsung has come up with an official announcement. The Galaxy Ace Plus will be made available as soon as this month in Europe, Asia and Africa and will indeed come with a couple of important hardware and software improvements.
