Samsung has announced a partnership with International Talent Support to create the Samsung Galaxy Award, a competition for creative designers to come up with an accessory for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S. The winner will receive €10,000 ($13,600 USD) for producing a design for an accessory that is “both effective and unique.” Samsung indicates the accessory can be a cover, a case, a bag, or whatever else the designer can come up with. The one requirement though is that is has to be made from Diesel denim material, part of an effort by Samsung to merge technology with fashion.
Samsung will accept drawings for prototypes from participants in the ITS program. The designers will prepare their sketches using a Samsung Note tablet and an S Pen. Ten finalists prototype drawings will be exhibited on July 11th and 12th, although Samsung does not indicate when a final winner will be selected. It seems to be implied that Samsung will eventually put the winning selection into production, so be on the lookout for a denim based accessory to appear sometime in the next few months.
