It has been fifteen years since Samsung first introduced the world’s first mobile phone with an integrated camera and changed the scope of mobile phones in the world. Over the years this trend picked up pace and the importance of mobile phone cameras grew.
That is why Samsung kept innovating and providing the best mobile phone camera experience to its users. Samsung brought new and innovative ideas such as rotating cameras that captured the first mobile ‘selfies’ to real time HDR. Even today Samsung continues to shape the future in imaging on mobile devices.
It was the year 2000 when the world entered a new millennium that Samsung introduced the first mobile phone with a camera, the SCH-V200 with a 0.3 MP camera.
Then in 2002 Samsung introduced yet another mobile phone with 0.11 MP camera that was capable of taking selfies due to the innovative idea of inserting a rotating camera.
Then in 2003, there was the swing-style folding camera of 1.3 MP which allowed users to take pictures from various angles.
Then in 2004, Samsung introduced the 5 MP camera with two screen viewing size options which was then followed by the serious 7MP wide angle and telescope lens mobile phone camera in 2005.
Finally in 2010, Samsung introduced the Panorama Shot 5 MP VGA camera in its first ever Galaxy S mobile phone.
In 2011 Samsung unveiled its Galaxy S2 with dual cameras. The 8MP rear camers has an Auto Focus and LED flash while for taking selfies, S2 also had a 1.9 MP front camera.
Samsung kept on its innovation and then in 2012 introduced the Galaxy S3 with a Burst Shot camera that was capable to take up to twenty continuous pictures. S3 also had an 8 MP rear camera and 1.9 MP front camera.
Then in 2013, Samsung increased the power of its camers for Galaxy S smartphones. Samsung introduced a 13 MP Dual Shot rear camera to the world with its Galaxy S4 that also had a 2MP front camera.
Then finally the real-time High Dynamic Range (HDR) camera came in the Galaxy S5 which reproduces natural light and color with striking intensity in real time. Samsung increased the power of rear shooter in S5 to 16 MP howvere the front camera power remained the same 2MP.
However, Samsung increased the power of front shooter in its Galaxy Note 4 phablet to 3.4. Howevere, the rear camera power remains the same as in S5. And Samsung again increased the power of front camaers to 5MP in its Galaxy As smartphone. However, the rear camera power remained same 16 MP for A5 too.
