AT&T and Samsung today announced three new smartphones that will be part of their GoPhone prepaid service. These two are exclusive to AT&T GoPhone (Samsun Galaxy Express Prime and Galaxy Express 3). None of these phones are high-end models, but they are decent smartphones for the price. Remember this is a prepaid carrier, so you’re paying the full retail price up-front. You’re not signing a contract or doing a monthly installment plan. AT&T is also bringing the Galaxy J3 on over to the postpaid side, which is not an exclusive for the carrier, as the Galaxy J3 is already available on Boost Mobile here in the States.
The Galaxy Express Prime is the more expensive of the two destined for GoPhone. It comes in at $129.99 with a 5-inch 720p display. Other specs include the Exynos 3475 processor along with 1.5GB of RAM, 2600mAh battery, 5-megapixel camera on the back, with a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter. There is also 16GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot which allows you to expand it. A bit surprising that it has 16GB of storage, actually. Most phones in this price range have 8GB. It does run Android 6.0 Marshmallow along with Touchwiz on top. The other is the Galaxy Express 3, which is priced at $79.99 and has a smaller 4.5-inch display with a 2050mAh battery inside. The rest of the specs are identical to the Galaxy Express Prime.
Finally we have the Galaxy J3, this is going to AT&T proper for $5.67 per month on the Next 24 Plan. It does have Samsung KNOX support, so AT&T is looking to target it at businesses that need a “cheap” smartphone. The Galaxy J3 has a 5-inch 720p Super AMOLED display, powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, along with 16GB of storage and 1.5GB of RAM. There is also a microSD card slot available on the Galaxy J3 here. And we’re looking at a 2600mAh battery inside. Which means this smartphone will likely last quite a while on a charge.
The Galaxy Express Prime is available today with the Galaxy Express 3 coming to GoPhone on May 6th along with the Galaxy J3 heading to AT&T on May 6th as well.
