Samsung today announced the Galaxy Grand. Some see this as a budget Note, while others see this as a larger Galaxy S II. I certainly join the latter group, since specs of the Galaxy Grand remind us very much of the Galaxy S II, which in today’s standards is considered to be mid-range.
The Samsung Galaxy Grand features a 5-inch WVGA display, an 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, a microSD card slot, an 8-megapixel rear snapper, a 2-megapixel front facing camera, A-GPS + Glonass, HSPA+ (21Mbps down) Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi b/g/n and a 2,100 mAh battery. The Galaxy Grand will run Android 4.1.2.
Samsung expects to ship the Galaxy Grand in the first quarter of 2013. A Dual SIM version (GT-I9082) will launch first and a single SIM version (GT-I9080) will follow. Pricing remains unknown. Maybe we’ll see this officially at CES 2013?
