Best Buy stores in Canada drop the price of the popular Nexus smartphone to zero
If you’re trying to budget after splurging on the new iPad, but you still need a new phone, you can score a free Samsung Galaxy Nexus from Best Buy. The offer is good at the retailer’s Canadian locations, where you’ll find a variation of discounts, depending on the network you choose.
The Rogers, Bell and Fido units are being offered at zero cost when you sign up for a three-year contract with one of these networks. Virgin Mobile is offering the Nexus for $39.99, while Telus is only slightly cheaper at $79.99.
According to Mobile Syrup, this is still the only smartphone you’ll find in Canada that’s equipped with Android OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). ICS offers easier multitasking, rich notifications, customizable home screens, resizable widgets and simple navigation.
The OS also sports a new typeface for high-resolution screens, making it easier to read and, really, just nicer to look at. Another notable feature of ICS is its quick response for incoming calls, which lets you respond by text without taking the call or unlocking your phone.
