The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is one of the most-highly anticipated smartphones of 2013. Apart from boasting top specifications, Samsung also changed the build material this time around, favoring a soft, leather-like back cover, even though the design aesthetics of the smartphone remain similar to the rest of the smartphones the company released this year.
The smartphone, and the Samsung Galaxy Gear smart watch accessory were officially launched yesterday, making India one of the first countries to receive the smartphone. Here’s everything you need to know about the pricing and availability of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear in India.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has been officially launched with a MRP of Rs 49,900 (~$787) which is very steep, but not unexpected, because of current foreign exchange rates issues and high import duties. At this price point, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is one of the most expensive smartphones around, and could be a major drawback for what was otherwise expected to be a very popular device.
Surprisingly, the Samsung Galaxy Gear boasts a high price tag as well, with the smart watch launching at Rs 22,990 (~$362). Considering the fact the Galaxy Gear is compatible only with the Galaxy Note 3, consumers are looking at a combined price point of Rs 72,890 for both devices. The price of the Galaxy Gear is especially disappointing, since the recently launched Sony SmartWatch 2 is priced at a cheaper Rs 14,990.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear are currently up for pre-order, with both expected to ship, and be available in stores from September 25.
You can pre-order the Galaxy Note 3 from the official Samsung India eStore here, or from third party online retailers such as Flipkart and Snapdeal. The Galaxy Gear can be pre-ordered from Samsung here, or from Flipkart here (Flipkart mentions a shipping date of the second week of October).
India is also one of the countries to receive the Samsung Exynos 5420 octa-core version (1.9 Ghz quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 + 1.3 Ghz quad-core ARM Cortex-A7) of the smartphone. As a recap, here’s a quick look at the specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 -
