The next iteration of the Samsung Galaxy Note is heavily rumoured to be launching just before IFA 2014 on September 3. And after the fairly uneventful Samsung Galaxy S5 launch and release, declining shipments and below-expected Q2/Q3 profits, Samsung REALLY does need a big success on its hands if it’s to give Apple’s iPhone 6 any trouble during the all-important Q4 season.
GSMArena.com has received images of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in full from an anonymous reader. The Note 4, along with the rumoured Galaxy F, make up Samsung's Q4 onslaught on the mobile space. But will they be enough to take on two, majorly redesigned iPhones?
According to the images, the front of the handset has kept the look of the Galaxy Note 3 whilst the big changes come on the edges of the handset. It seems the metal sides that appear to be on the as yet-unannounced Samsung Galaxy Alpha will also make an appearance on the Galaxy Note 4.
On the rear it looks like the handset will keep the plastic yet leather-like texture for improved grip. Meanwhile the S Pen is included on the bottom of the handset alongside the microUSB 3.0 port that you’ll spot in the middle.
The big change on the back comes with the addition of a heart rate monitor; it’s right alongside the camera lens at the top. This feature was first included on the Samsung Galaxy S5 and has been heavily rumoured to make an appearance on the new Note handset.
From the images it’s not clear what size the display is; we’ve heard rumours it will be taken down a notch from the 5.7in on the Note 3 to 5.5in. In amongst the photos is also a glimpse of the retail box and the photo on the front seems to match up with the images, which gives the leak a little more credibility.
Now just to wait until Samsung announces the handset at IFA 2014 on September 3.
