Note 4 Browsing Or Streaming Takes Too Long To Load
Problem: Hello. I just got a new note 4 about a month ago from Tmobile and have had issues with Internet browsing since day 1. I have unlimited 4g Ltd and signal bars are 2 or more, yet sometimes I get an error because it took too long for the page today load. I can’t stream movies because it will freeze midway and I have today restart the phone today get it back to normal. I have tried rebooting, clearing active apps and removing the battery, yet the issue persist. Please help. Thank you.
Solution: You need to check first if this is a connection related issue by using a Wi-Fi connection instead of your 4G mobile data connection when going online. Try to browse a website or stream a movie while on Wi-Fi. If the problem does not occur then your mobile data connection is the cause. You should then try to check if the issue occurs only in one area or in other areas as well while connected to 4G.
If you are still experiencing the same problem even when connected on Wi-Fi then you should check first if this issue is caused by an app installed in your phone. To do this just start your device in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. Connect to the Internet using your mobile data subscription. Check if the problem still occurs. If it doesn’t then an app installed in your phone may be causing this problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If however the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Wi-Fi Not Working Unless Phone Restarted
Problem:Since the lollipop update, after I use my hotspot at work my wifi doesn’t work when I get home. It appears to be connected, but will not work until I restart my phone. After a restart it works fine.
Solution: This appears to be caused by some form of corrupt data. Try wiping the cache partition of your phone first then check if the issue still occurs.
If the problem persists then you will have to backup your phone data and do a factory reset. This is a highly recommended troubleshooting step especially if issues occur right after a software upgrade.
Note 4 Slow Internet When Connected To Router
Problem: I have a router supplied by my cable company. (Comcast) This router is also part of my landline based phone and can’t easily be replaced with a store bought one. I have no problems connecting however, my connection is slow and often so weak that web pages freeze or will not fully load. My carrier’s data connection is far faster and more reliable. There are three other devices in my home (also Verizon) that do not have any of these problems. I have done factory resets and safe mode tests with no real resolution. Any ideas?
Solution: Basically, your phone is the only device having an issue when connected to the Comcast router while other devices can connect without any issues. Since you mentioned that your phone connection is normal when using mobile data then the issue may be with the connection mode of your phone and the router.
The first thing that you need to do is to forget the Comcast connection from your phone. Restart both your phone and the Comcast router. Once both devices have fully booted scan for the Wi-Fi connection on your phone and connect to it again. Make sure to stay close to your router ( a few feet) with no obstructions such as a wall in between.
If the issue persists then try to connect your phone to a different Wi-Fi source. Check if you are still having the same issue when connected to a different Wi-Fi. If the issue is the same then this may already be a hardware related problem since you mentioned that you already did a factory rest (which eliminates any possibility of the phone software causing the problem).
Before bringing your phone to an autohrized service center for checking try to see if a software update is available for your device and get it. The update may help resolve this issue.
Note 4 Keeps Switching APN To Connect To Internet
Problem: I use straight talk off att towers and I have to keep switching my access point names to get Internet
Solution: This appears to be a network related issue. Try connecting your phone to Wi-Fi and check if you get a stable Internet connection. If you do then the problem is with the network. Connect your phone to your mobile data then check if the issue occurs in different areas. Try the connection in your house, across the street, or even in your workplace. If the issue occurs only in a particular area then this may be a signal related problem. You should contact Straight Talk regarding this and inquire if there are any network related issues in your area.
Note 4 Connects Automatically To Wi-Fi
Problem:I’ll be driving with my cell phone waze program on when all of a sudden a optima hot spot takes over my screen. This even happens with Wi-Fi off and set not to allow scanning even when Wi-Fi off in system settings. Annoying to put it mildly. If Wi-Fi is off, how does this hotspot get in?
Solution: It looks like an app installed in your phone is causing this issue. Try to start your phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue still occurs. Take note that only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode. This means that you won’t have access to any third party app you download. If the problem does not occur in this mode then it’s most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the issue persists even in Safe Mode then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
