Problem:I recently switched from the IPhone to the Galaxy Note 4 and I am not receiving group text or pictures. I either receive no group text or just a small part of the text. No pictures are being received. I went to ATT to have them activate and set up the new phone and I turned in my old IPhone to AT&T so I do not have access to the old phone. Should I just go back to AT&T?
Solution: Try to check first if your phone has been setup correctly to send and receive an MMS. To do this just send an MMS ( complete with text and picture) to your number. If you can receive the MMS and open it then the problem is not with your phone.
Since you previously used an iPhone your number may still be connected to your iMessage account. The group text that your number is included on may be using the iMessage platform. This is usually the case if most of the participants in the group text are iPhone users.
What you need to do is to deactivate and deregister your iMessage. Since you don’t have access to your phone you will have to do this from the Apple My Support Profile page.
DEactivating and deregistering from iMessage is just one part of the solution. The next part is to tell your friends to delete the group message thread from their devices and start a new one. This time have them send the group text using SMS and not as an iMessage. If the group text has a blue background then this is an iMessage however if it has a green background then this is a text message.
Note 4 Will Not Download MMS
Problem:As stated I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and when I receive MMS (Picture Text) the phone will note download them. I’ve taken the battery out to see if that will fix the problem, and it did not. I’ve tried looking for the MMS settings and could not find it. I’ve called my phone provider which is simply mobile and they could not help either. Is there any advice you could give me in this situation?
Solution: To receive the MMS you need to have a mobile data subscription and you have to make sure that your mobile data is turned on. You won’t be able to send or receive an MMS through a Wi-Fi network.
If your phone’s mobile data switch is on and you have a data subscription then the next thing to do is to check your phone APN settings and make sure that it matches the one your network is using. To access the APN setting of your phone go to Settings > More > Mobile networks > Access Point Names.
You should make sure that the settings listed matches the one below.
Authentication type: Not Required or just use the default value shown
Note 4 Group Text Arriving As Individual Text
Problem:When receiving a group message, it was sent as individual text to each group member, I had no option to leave the group and kept receiving all the texts the people in the group were texting. I was getting each message individually. How can I leave the group message? I am using the message service that came with the phone.
Solution: The sender may be sending the group message as separate messages to the recipients. If you check your Note 4 message settings there is a section under Multimedia Messages for Group Conversation. When enabled a single message is sent out to the recipients however if this is disabled a separate message is sent to each recipient.
Right now the fastest way to leave a group message is to ask the person who started the group text to discontinue the current thread then start a new one without including your number.
Note 4 Stop Confirm Read Report After Receiving MMS
Problem:After receiving a picture in an MMS, I get a pop-up message saying this: “Confirm – Read report will be sent… Cancel or Yes” Is there a way to stop that?
Solution: There are two reasons why you are getting the confirm read report. First, the sender has activated this feature on their phone. Second, this feature is supported by their network.
If you are getting this from one particular person then have them disable the delivery report setting on their phone.
If you are getting this pop-up on all the MMS you receive then this may already be caused by a glitch in your phone software. Try wiping the cache partition of your phone then see if the issue gets resolved.
