Text messages that you have already read and are really not that important are usually deleted from the phone. Problem:Old text messages keep appearing in my inbox. I deleted them a long time ago and I do not know what is going on. When I delete them all they come back the next day. I have 142 message threads in my inbox now. Now when I try to delete them, it takes my phone an ample amount of time to delete the messages, so I eventually gave up. So now my texts run pretty slow because of the mass amount in my inbox. I don’t use any other messaging app but the one that comes with the phone. Can you please help me?
Solution: Try to clear the cache and data of the messaging app first. This will delete the temporary data of the app which if already corrupt can cause this issue. Once this is done delete the text messages again then observe if they appear again.
In case they appear again then there may be a third party app that is responsible for this, possibly a security and backup app. To check if this is the case you need to start your phone in Safe Mode. From Safe Mode, if you have any text messages that you need to delete then delete them now. Observe if the text messages still reappear. You may need to operate your phone in this mode for a few hours. If the deleted messages don’t appear then the problem is most likely caused by a third party app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If you use Hangouts then check if its sync settings are enabled. If it is then it may be downloading the deleted text messages from the cloud. Try to turn off the sync settings then check if the issue still occurs.
Note 4 Text Message Wrong Time Stamp
Problem:I am having problems with the time a text message was sent. Our house have low signal inside. When someone will text me it will have delay because i have to go out to be able receive it but the time indicated will be the time when I received it even tho I know it was already delayed. Unlike in my iphone it indicates the true time when was the text message was sent even tho I receive it late. I’m having a hard time because of this.Sometimes I thought my friends just texted me but then they’ll tell me it was sent yesterday. Is there anything I can do to correct it? Thanks in advance!
Solution: This issue appears to be common among several smartphone models. The problem is that the timestamp that appears on the receivers end is the time that they received the text message instead of the time the text message was sent. This often causes some confusion if the messages arrive late due to the phone not having a signal, set to airplane mode, or if turned off.
Apparently this is how Android works. When implementing this concept Google decided that the timestamp from the provider may not be reliable so only one date field is included in the SMS database and this is filled by the current time the message is received.
One workaround to this issue is if you try to use other text messaging apps that are available at the Google Play Store. You will however have to check which among the apps does not have this issue.
Note 4 Text Alert Showing Unread Messages Even If There Are None
Problem:My text alert is showing two unread texts. It was one. There are no unread texts. In fact I deleted a bunch that were old. I did a soft reset, did not help. Also, when using keypad, I try to delete or fix a misspelled word, and the cursor jumps to the previous word and messes that up. That started with your last forced software upgrade.
Solution: If this issue occured right after a software update then it is most likely caused by the data of the previous software version that has not been completely removed from your phone. This data is now causing a conflict with the new software version resulting in this issue. To resolve this problem I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Cannot Send Text Message And Picture Together
Problem:I can no longer send a text message and picture together. I have to send the picture then send the text separately. As you can imagine this is very frustrating. The update been a disaster. I also have to go thru too many steps now to send a simple text, like existing or new contact, the scroll to find contact, them choose done. We just went backwards with the latest software BACKDATE. Please help us!
Related Problem:When I attach a photo to text, it sends immediately without giving me the opportunity to write a text with the picture. I have done it 2 ways 1) writing a text and then hitting the attachment icon and 2) opening a picture and then going to share. I used to be able to write text with the picture either way I did it.
Related Problem: When I attach a photo to text, it sends immediately without giving me the opportunity to write a text with the picture. I have done it 2 ways 1) writing a text and then hitting the attachment icon and 2) opening a picture and then going to share. I used to be able to write text with the picture either way I did it.
Solution: This is a common issue among T-Mobile subscribers. A recent software update is causing this issue where the picture is sent separately from the text message.
One solution to this issue is to turn of the VoLTE feature of your device. To do this open the phone app then go to the keypad tab. Click on more options then settings. Tap on call then tap on Voice over LTE settings. Click on do not use VoLTE.
If the problem still occurs then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete make sure to check that VoLTE is turned off.
Note 4 Text Alert Sounds Stopped Working
Problem:All of a sudden my alert sound for text messages stopped working. All other sounds work. I have checked every notification and all are set correctly. I get a small vibration when I get a text but no sound
Solution: Try to open the messaging app settings and go to notifications. From here check on the sound setting and make sure that it is set properly. Next, make sure that the volume settings of your phone are set to its maximum level.
If the problem still persists then try to wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This deletes the temporary data stored in your phone that could be causing the problem.
Another factor that you should check is the possibility that an app you installed in the phone is causing the problem. Start your phone in Safe Mode then check if the notification sounds work in this mode. If they work then the problem is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
Note 4 Not Receiving Text Message Unless Phone Rings
Problem: I can text and people receive my texts but when they respond back I do not receive the text until my phone rings. Thus also happens with receiving my voice mails. Once my phone rings I’ll receive the text message and voicemail message.
Solution: To resolve this problem try clearing the cache and data of your messaging app. If the issue persists proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. These two steps delete the temporary data stored in your phone that could cause this problem.
If the above steps don’t work then backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
