One clear advantage that Android smartphones have over their iOS counterparts is the ability to expand the available storage capacity by adding a microSD card. The #Samsung Galaxy #Note4 for example is able to accommodate a microSD card of up to 128GB. This means that if you own this phone then its 32GB storage can be increased up to 160GB. That’s a lot of storage space to save photos, videos, and music files.

Problem:I’m having trouble with my SD card. The phone keeps saying that it is “preparing SD card” but it will not go anywhere further than that. I bought a new card and it is still giving me the same trouble. I’d really like your help in trying to resolve this trouble.
Solution: If the issue still occurs even with a new microSD card installed in your phone then the problem could be with the phone itself. The primary suspect in this case is a corrupt data. Remove the microSD card from the phone. You need to start your phone in recovery mode then choose the wipe the cache partition option.
Leave the phone for now. Format the microSD card with your computer using the FAT32 file system. Once this is done insert the microSD card to your phone then see if the problem still occur. If it does then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 microSD Card Does Not Show On Phone
Problem:I downloaded some videos that i turn in mp3 form. Because i was having enough space on the sd card, i wanted to put the videos there. And it failed. From that day, the sd card doesn’t show on the phone again. Help please
Solution: Try to check first if the problem is caused by the microsD card by letting your computer read it. If the computer can’t detect the microSD card then it’s probably defective. Try to get a new microSD card and check if your phone can detect it.
If the microSD card can be read by your computer then I suggest you backup the contents of the card and format it using the FAT32 file system. Reinsert the microSD into the phone then check if the problem is resolved.
If the microSD card is still not being read then try to check first if it is properly inserted into its slot. To eliminate the possibility of this issue being caused by a glitch in the phone software you should start your phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of your device. If this doesn’t work then proceed with a factory reset. Make sure to only do this if you have backed up your phone data.
Note 4 Can’t Write To microSD Card
Problem:My problem is writing to sd card. I can move files from my 64g card to phone storage but not from phone storage to my sd card. I can’t download anything to my sd card but I can to my phone storage. I’ve plugged my phone into my computer and opened my storage on my SD card and tried to move files back and forth. I was not able to do so. Oh, and on my phone, I’ve tried to delete a file and was prompt files was deleted when actually it is still there. I notice this problem after the kitKat update and have read many others have the same problem. My phone uses the Lollipop OS, is there a fix to regain the use of my sd card?
Solution: It appears that the problem could be caused by a defective microSD card. If you have another microSD card with you then try to insert it in your phone and see if you can transfer data to it. If you can then your microSD card has a problem.
You can try to fix this card by formatting it using the computer. Make sure to backup any important data stored in the card first.
If formatting the microSD card does not work then you will need to replace this.
Another scenario that could happen is that the same issue will exist even with another microSD card installed in your phone. If this is the case then the problem could already be caused by an issue with the phone software. I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Damages microSD Cards
Problem:My Note is a SD card eater. I’ve replaced it 4 times with sandisk, then Samsung Class 10. It works fine for about 5 months then bye bye card.Put in computer nothing. This is getting costly to replace and then loose all data. Argggggg. Any Ideas if this is a manufacture defect? My wife does it too.
Solution: It’s very likely that this problem is caused by an issue with the phone hardware. The microSD slot could have some damaged contacts causing this issue or the problem could be within the main board itself. Before bringing your phone to an authorized service center for checking I suggest you perform a factory reset first ( make sure to backup your phone data) then observe if the still occurs. If it does then you need to have your phone checked and repaired.
Note 4 Corrupt Pictures
Problem:I just swiped my 32gb card for a 64gb card and everything shows but I took some pics early and they are coming up as corrupted pics in my gallery then I tried to take another pic to test it out again and now my phone cuts off when I take the pic… could it be the 64gb card causing my phone to do this? It’s a san disk
Solution: Go to the camera settings of your phone then check if the default storage location is set to the microSD card. If it is then the problem is most likely caused by this card. It may have some bad sectors that’s causing the pictures to become corrupt. You can either format this card using your computer or for best results you should replace it with a new one.
Note 4 Can’t Use microSD Card
Problem:I bought a SD card to use on my galaxy note 4.i am paying rent a center so it’s a rent to own phone. I know that it’s brand new. I also think that it’s not rooted. An I honestly don’t know what that exactly means. Anyways when I put the SD card in I can’t really use it and it disables my finger scan and requires me to put in a password. Why is it doing that and how to I fix it?
Solution: Try to check if the microSD card can be read by your computer. If it can’t then it could be faulty which is the reason why your phone can’t recognize it either.
If the microSD card can be read by your computer then it should also be ready by your phone. Try to make sure that you have inserted the card properly in your phone. If your phone has any security software running, such as Knox, then access to the microSD card may be disabled. You can try to start your phone in safe mode then check if the microSD card is recognized in this mode.
Regarding the fingerprint scan try to input the password.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail you need to backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
