Actually, I already addressed the problem wherein the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (#Samsung #GalaxyNote5) reverts to using Swipe lock even after the Fingerprint lock was enabled. In my previous post, it was the Smart Lock feature that I thought was the culprit and we actually did receive an email from our readers saying that it worked.
In this post, however, one of our readers emailed us seeking assistance for he was experiencing the same issue. Several minutes later he emailed us back saying he already found a solution to his problem. That’s what I’m going to share with you here. So, read on to know how to tackle this problem and other issues I cited in this article.

Note 5 reverts to Swipe even if Fingerprint was setup
Problem: I have read your thread on the lockscreen reverting back to swipe even after the fingerprint scanner is enabled. The guy’s question you answered is virtually the same thing I did with contacting Samsung directly. However, after following your steps, I am still unable to unlock my phone with my finger. It still reverts back to the swipe. It does this when I enter a password or pin to lock the phone. Any helpful information will be greatly appreciated. — Steven
I found the solution to why people are having trouble with setting up a fingerprint scan and it revert back to swipe soon after. There is a feature in “Lock screen and security” and under “secure lock settings.” The secured lock time is the function that is making this happen. Users will be able to lock their devices as they wish with this feature and it will no longer revert back to the swipe screen. Hope this helps!

Note 5 screen times out while watching Facebook videos
Problem: I am trying to watch a video and it times out. I cant find a setting that will keep the screen from turning off while watching videos.
Related Problem: Hi guys. I have a quick question, why does the screen of my Note 5 time out while I’m watching facebook videos? When, however, I watch movies using the stock video player, the screen stays on. I hope you can provide an answer for that.
Related Problem: I don’t know if you guys have encountered this problem but when I watch videos on Facebook, the screen still times out. This phone is new and I just bought it a couple of months ago. I never rooted it nor do anything out of the ordinary so I know I haven’t messed up a thing or two. The funny thing is the screen stays on if I stream through Youtube. Help me please. Thanks.
Troubleshooting: Well, it looks like it’s Facebook that’s going to do something about this problem as it also happens to other Android devices and not just the Note 5. With thousands, if not millions, of owners who encountered this issue, the company should have already received hundreds of reports and must be doing something to get this problem fixed.
So, for now, there’s no resolution to this problem but keep checking for Facebook updates. Or better yet, check the version of Facebook app on your phone and compare it with the version of the app in the Play Store. If yours isn’t the latest, uninstall it and download a fresh copy. It might just fix the problem.
For rooted owners who are savvy, on the other hand, install the Xposed Framework and download Never Sleep from Modules. It will allow you to set specific time out for specific apps.
Note 5 with cracked screen went black
Problem: Well I crack my screen but the phone still worked. Then one day it went black. I tried the battery thing, and the one, two three minute thing and still nothing. I can hear it on but can’t see anything.
Answer: Get the screen replaced, it’s not functioning anymore. As you said, the phone still rings or maybe you can still hear the notifications. That’s an indicator that the phone is still functioning well but the screen is already damaged and needs replacement. It’s a hardware problem and we can only do so much about it.
Related Problem: Phone fell and now screen is completely black. The LED light is on with a light blue changing back and forth with dark blue. Won’t work.
Note 5 screen is black but it’s still working
Problem: So, my screen is black, the phone still works, but its yelling at me in Japanese or Chinese or something. The first time my screen went black I took it to a repair shop, and it worked but a few days later it went blank again. I tried troubleshooting it and nothing worked. After many failed attempts to fix the screen issue, it began talking to me in some other language. Now, every time I try to turn it on or troubleshoot it some more, it keeps speaking to me. Why, and, how did that happen?
Suggestion: Honestly, I think this is a pure screen issue and with the phone yelling at you in Japanese or Chinese is just a result of your “blind” troubleshooting–you may have changed the language. Considering it’s a hardware issue, there’s not much we can do about it. You need a technician to fix it for you.
If the screen doesn’t have cracks and the phone didn’t suffer liquid or physical damages, then there’s a chance it’s just a loose connection. Nevertheless, you need someone who has sufficient knowledge and skills to get this issue sorted out.
Can’t unlock Note 5 using fingers, S Pen works fine
Problem: I have the swipe as the feature to lock the screen and it won’t allow me to swipe the screen with my fingers to unlock it. I must use the S Pen. This is now the 3rd time this has happened. I’ve only had this phone since October 23.
Troubleshooting: Does the touch screen works fine once the phone is unlocked? If so, try using other security locks to see if they, too, have issues. For instance, if you use Password, does the keyboard shows and accepts what you type? If you use PIN, does the numeric keypad shows and key in the numbers?
If other security locks have issues also or if the touch screen doesn’t work after unlocking the phone, then it’s time you did the master reset. You should back up all your data first before following these steps:
Turn off your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.
Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power keys together.
When the device powers on and displays ‘Power on logo’, release all keys and the Android icon will appear on the screen.
Wait until the Android Recovery Screen appears after about 30 seconds.
Using the Volume Down key, highlight the option, ‘wipe data/factory reset’ and press the Power key to select it.
Press the Vol Down button again until the option ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted and then press the Power key to select it.
After the reset is complete, highlight ‘Reboot system now’ and hit the Power key to restart the phone.
Note 5 screen glitches without apparent reason
Problem: When I try to open up my phone as soon as I press the home button my screen flashes green and blue horizontal lines mixed with black across the screen. Sometimes it will allow me to go to my home screen sometimes it wont. Then when I am online or doing anything with my phone it will sometimes cut me off and start doing the glitch thing again then go black. Never turning off though. I’m not sure what to do. Any help?
Troubleshooting: When and how did this problem start? Did the phone suffer any physical or liquid damage? Was there any significant situation that could have led to this? Only you can answer these questions.
Now, assuming this problem just started out of nowhere without apparent reason at all, I suggest you first boot your phone in safe mode and continue using the device with all third-party apps temporarily disabled.
Turn off your Galaxy S6 Edge.
Press and hold the Power key.
When ‘Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge’ appears, immediately release the Power key and then press and hold the Volume Down button.
Continue holding the Volume Down button until the phone finishes the restart.
When you see Safe Mode on the lower left corner of the screen, release the button.
If the phone still glitches, then it might be an issue with the firmware or the hardware but we can easily rule out the former. With that, you need to backup all your data and perform the master reset and if the issue remained, then it’s time you brought it to a technician and have it checked. Odds are it might just a loose connection or a more serious screen problem.
