In this latest installment we will tackle the Galaxy Note 5 SIM card not detected issue & other related problems. Several of our readers have sent us this type of issue which happens to occur randomly. One minute the phone is working fine then the next the error message appears.
We have selected several issues of this nature which we have received recently and provided the best possible troubleshooting steps that can be done to resolve the problem.

Problem:Getting “sim card not detected” several times. I reset the phone and it goes back to normal. Sometimes it’s while I’m using it, and sometimes it does it while it’s not being used.
Solution: There are several factors that can cause this particular problem.
First, it can be caused by a glitch in the phone software. Since you mentioned that when you reset your phone the problem disappeared I recommend you backup your phone data then do a factory reset again. After the reset observe if the issue still occurs.
Another possible factor that can cause this problem is an issue with the SIM slot. If there is a little room for SIM movement in the slot then the contacts between the phone and the SIM will not meet causing this issue. Try to cut a piece of paper the size of the SIM card and place it on top of the SIM ( not on the side where the gold connector is). Insert both in the SIM slot then check if the problem still occurs.
Sometimes a faulty SIM can also cause this problem. Try using a different SIM in your phone then check if the issue still occurs. If it doesn’t then you should consider getting a new SIM card.
Note 5 No SIM Card Error
Problem: About a month after having phone I started having an error about the Sim card. It says there is no card or reboot to find Sim. I called Verizon and they said the Sim card was shot and they sent me a new one. Things were fine but yesterday it happened again with the new Sim card… About a month after installing the new one. Is it the card or the phone?
Solution: There’s a possibility that the new SIM card you got is also faulty. If you have access to another SIM card then try using it in your phone. If the problem disappears then you may need to get a replacement SIM again.
However, if the issue still occurs even with another SIM in your phone then you need to check if this is a problem with the contact between the SIM slot and the SIM card. Cut a piece of paper the size of the SIM card and place it on top of the SIM card before inserting it in the SIM slot.
If the problem still occurs then the next thing to do is to check if this is a software related issue. To do this you need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail then it’s possible that this could already be a phone hardware problem. If this is the case then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center for checking.
Note 5 Swapping SIM Cards
Problem: I currently have a Samsung S6 Edge on the Verizon network and also a Samsung Note 5 on the T-Mobile network. What I wanted to do is swap the sim cards on each phone and make the Note 5 on the Verizon network and the S6 Edge on the T-Mobile network. The specifications on the Samsung S6 Edge is Verizon Carrier and with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. What is the easiest way to accomplish this?
Solution: Since both phones are on different carriers you need to make sure first that both of them are unlocked. Once they are unlocked you can easily swap the SIM cards of both devices.
Note 5 Unlocked Getting SIM Card Error
Problem:the note 5 has dual sim function, it is network locked. i got lock code from a third party. i got the sim 1 successfully unlocked. when i use 2 sims, it works fine but after a while it says sim card error, need to restart. But if i use just 1 sim card, even a different network sim, it works perfectly fine. how can i address this ? please help…
Solution: This problem could be caused by a glitch in the phone software. Try to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete check if the issue still occurs.
I’d also like to know if you are getting the SIM card error for both SIM cards (SIM 1 & SIM 2) or just one particular SIM card? If it’s just on one particular SIM card then that card may be causing the problem.
